The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has announced that it has formally responded to the summons issued by the General Inspection of Justice and submitted the corresponding accounting reports for the 2017 to 2023 fiscal years, while categorically denying any breach of regulations. In an extensive statement, the association sought to bring clarity to its affiliated members and the public in the face of repeated statements by the General Inspector of Justice, Daniel Roque Vítolo, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. First, the AFA denied that the change in jurisdiction was illegal or carried out covertly. According to details provided, the decision was approved in an assembly, supervised by providers from the IGJ itself, and subsequently certified by that body, which even issued the necessary certificate of validity in November 2024 to complete the registration in the Province of Buenos Aires. Subsequently, the Buenos Aires Provincial Directorate of Legal Entities approved and registered the process, formally notifying the IGJ. Regarding the financial statements, the entity stated that all accounting reports between 2017 and 2024 were presented on time and in the proper manner. It pointed out that only one review—the one corresponding to the 2017 fiscal year—was properly notified and answered, while the rest of the observations publicly invoked were never notified as required by regulations. Additionally, it denounced delays of up to three years in the analysis of the files, formal irregularities, and unfounded documentation. The AFA also emphasized that during those same years, it requested and obtained multiple certificates of validity issued by the IGJ, in which the body itself explicitly stated that the association was up to date with the submission of balance sheets and post-assembly documentation. The last of these certificates, dated November 2024, ratified this situation, which—according to the association—contradicts the current accusations. Another central point of the statement was the limit of state control: the AFA recalled that the IGJ has no authority to approve or disapprove financial statements, a function that exclusively corresponds to the partners, and that its role is restricted to the control of formal legality. Furthermore, it stressed that it is currently under the exclusive supervision of the Buenos Aires Provincial Directorate of Legal Entities. Finally, the association rejected the public statements accusing it of hiding information or having 'escaped' from the Buenos Aires jurisdiction, and denounced the media and political use of the administrative procedure.
